CM Sings Local First Tune At Volkswagen

Chief minster Ashok Chavan at the Volkswagen plant in Chakan on SaturdayAt the Volkswagen event, Chief minister Ashok Chavan played the tune of 'local first' by saying that state is embarking on providing trained manpower to the industries.

State government is in process of creating human resource bank so that industries in the state can be provided with skilled manpower, declared chief minister of Maharashtra Ashok Chavan.

Chavan was speaking after inaugurating the production of Volkswagen's first compact car in India, Polo. While congratulating the company for choosing Chakan for its plant, Chavan said, "It was my tenure as industries minister that the foundation for auto industries was laid in Pune. Central and state government are pulling out all stops to facilitate the industries here. As a part of this attempt, state government has made a blue print for providing trained manpower to industries. The government is trying to provide employment local youths. The blue print is a part of this venture. The attempt is being made to provide employment to local people through Industrial Training Institutes and Polytechnic colleges."

Chavan also claimed that the state will be made free of load shedding within three years. Industries minister of state Rajendra Darda expressed satisfaction that the state is attracting foreign direct investment through Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.
